We are located in the heart of the Carpet Mills Arts District (CMAD) at The Alexander Smith Carpet Mills in Yonkers, NY.
Built in the late 19th to early 20th century, Alexander Smith was the largest carpet mill in the United States. At its peak, the mills employed over 7,000 people!
The Weaving Buildings at 500, 510 & 530 Nepperhan Avenue are over 170,000 square feet with solid brick exterior and interior walls. Built in 1881, each floor has gorgeous original hardwood floors with high ceilings in a loft style setting.
The Worsted Building at 179 Saw Mill River Road is over 210,000 square feet and was used for wool storage during the first half of the 20th century. Built in the early 1900s, the building is solid concrete construction, from the walls to the floors.
Our affinity for the neighborhood began in the 1980s when we moved our own companies from NYC to Yonkers. We immediately fell in love with the architecture and style of these original carpet mill buildings.
We started with 5,000 square feet of warehouse storage space. Over the past 30 years, we have grown to occupy over 70,000 square feet to contain our antiques & home furnishings collection.
Yonkers is located only 15 miles from Manhattan and easily accessible by major highways & mass transit. We are centrally located near the Bronx, Queens, Long Island, Northern New Jersey, Southern Connecticut and Westchester County.
With reasonable rents in a unique setting, entrepreneurial businesses, artists and other creative companies are experiencing the advantages of working (and living) in Yonkers.
